Hightae is on fertile land near the river Annan and is one of the four towns (the others being Greenhill, Heck, and Smallholm) that make up the Royal Four Towns of Lochmaben, the lands of which were granted to tenants after fighting alongside Robert the Bruce.

I must only have delivered one leaflet as the local SNP member had got round the whole village distributing leaftets and also to various farms nearby by the time I’d come round with more materials. Put me to shame! The Annandale Way path for walkers and cyclists between Moffat and Lochmaben is nearby
